Introducing SDUK Studio: software that proves itself
After 25 years building business software, we have launched SDUK Studio: working systems in weeks, at a fixed price, with proof generated by every build.

This site is new, and so is the name on it. SDUK Studio is the new home of Software Development UK's platform work: business systems built to order, delivered in weeks, owned by you. This post covers what the Studio is and how an engagement with us actually runs.
We have been building business software for twenty-five years, and the last three changed the work more than the previous twenty-two. AI has collapsed the price of writing code, but not the price of knowing the code is right: that argument, and the research behind it, is our first post. A market where anyone can produce plausible software quickly is a market where trust becomes the scarce thing. The Studio is our answer to that market.
What SDUK Studio is
A small UK studio with one central platform behind it. Whether we are building you a client portal or a case-management system, it comes off that platform, and the platform is audited and tested in one place. That is what makes the economics work: software shaped around your business, at a fixed price agreed before we start, running in your own cloud account. You own it, and there is no per-seat meter — our second post explains why that matters more every year.
Quality you can check
Every supplier claims quality; the claims are free. So the Studio is built to make ours checkable. Four automatic inspections stand between any change and your system: security scanning, a test that proves one client's records cannot be reached from another's account, accessibility checks, and limits on bespoke code that the machinery itself enforces. Fail one and nothing ships. There is no override, including for us.
The evidence is part of the product. Every build produces its own specification, taken from the running system so it cannot drift from reality, and a conformance report: security, data protection and accessibility evidence written to be read by a board or an auditor. The components your system is built from are audited every morning against newly published vulnerabilities. Ask us "how do you know it is right?" and the honest answer is a document — one you keep. The full set of promises, and the evidence behind each, is published as the Studio Standard.
How an engagement runs
Software projects rarely fail at the code; they fail in the gap between what was meant and what was built. So we publish our route from first email to live system:
- Enquiry. The form on this site. A person replies.
- Discovery call. Half an hour, no charge, and we will say plainly whether we are the right fit.
- Analysis and design. We map the data and workflows your business actually runs on.
- Confirmation call. You check we understood; we check we can deliver.
- Quote. A fixed price with the draft specification and a draft conformance report attached, so you can see what you are buying before you commit to it.
- Acceptance. A deposit secures the build slot.
- First-pass build. A working system on a private test address, typically within weeks.
- Fine-tuning. You use the system and press the built-in feedback button when something is off. Nobody can specify everything in advance; the process expects that.
- Refinement rounds. Changes land in agreed batches, so the project converges instead of drifting.
- Sign-off and go-live. Including moving your existing data across.
Two honest limits
First, we will not build everything. Accounting, payroll and communications are commodities done well by specialists, and we say so: keep Xero, keep Teams. If a category is better rented, we will tell you on the discovery call.
Second, the Studio brand is new, and our demonstration systems are exactly that: demonstrations. The first named case studies will arrive when clients agree to be named. Until then, what we can show you is a live working system and the evidence pack it ships with, which we think tells you more than a testimonial would.
The name is new. The discipline behind it is twenty-five years old. If your business runs on software that almost fits, we would like to show you what the alternative now looks like.
Curious whether it fits your business? Book a discovery call. Half an hour, no charge, and if we are not the right fit we will say so on the call.
